In the Asia market, Rijk Zwaan focuses on developing high-level eggplant lines in greenhouses and net houses that have firmer flesh with glossy, dark purple skin and less oil absorption than traditional eggplants. At the same time, specialized eggplant varieties used in processing for special export such as purple-stemmed Japanese eggplant are also being developed.
Rijk Zwaan eggplant varieties are selected for the best external colour, spineless fruits and a calyx that keeps its nice green colour after harvesting. We aim for perfect internal and external quality, combined with excellent shelf life, a strong point of Rijk Zwaan eggplant varieties. Furthermore, Rijkzwaan is paying more and more attention to the final consumer, with an eye on taste, convenience, sustainability and health.
